CHOREOGRAPHY
remember me
This choreography is a tribute to our ancestors. A reconciliation between the past and the present for future generations. We have the duty to remember and honor the past. We must maintain this connection with the community, an exchange through a common history and origin. Black people have a complicated and bruised history, yet despite this, we are still standing with dignity and resilience.
This viral song inspired me for this piece. The poetry of the lyrics as well as her flow emulates the inner warrior, the powerful soul within ourselves.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is believe. Life is difficult and messy. After the last few years we had, faith is the very thing that get us through. Not only Religious faith, but also faith in people. More importantly, faith in ourselves. When you down, having faith helps to find Hope to keep going further, to find a strength to get up and succeed.
“I got the inspiration for this choreography after my miscarriage. It was very hard to understand what I was feeling, the only thing I knew was that it will get better…” -Mia Séroc
Pray
Women, fierce beings of this world. It is difficult to know you worth when you have Society telling you who you are or who you're supposed to be. “Nou lé la” means “we are here” in Creole Reunionnais and We could add “and we are not going anywhere”
“Creating this piece was one of the most important turn in my creating process. I had a sense of urgency, I was about 8 months pregnant when I filmed it. I felt powerful and amazed by what my body was able to do. It was a team effort, I couldn't move much and these incredible dancers really came through for me. Forever grateful!”-Mia S.
NOU LÉ LA
A portrait of a family going through grief after the father death. Pain, anger, love, miscommunication, separation, acceptance, a journey of healing.
“My father died when I was 7 years old, it was very hard on my mother and I. He was everything to me, the only one that understood me. My mother and I had a difficult relationship and his death made it worse. It took me a very long time to accept his passing, if I'm honest, it still hurts today. This choreography helped me understand my story” -Mia S.

The fire inside you is burning, let it out. It will always feel dangerous and scary to dive in your darkness, do it and free yourself.
“I was so scared to do this piece. I never created on myself and to dance something so close to what I was feeling at the moment was absolutely insane. I was one of my many dreams, creating a solo for myself and performing it. It was thrilling and it was one of the best experiences of my life” -Mia S.
SOMETHING UNDER HER SKIN
A piece of unity, love and hope. No matter how life goes, it will always be easier if we stick together.
“Brother and Sister, together we’ll make it through” Inspired this choreography. I truly believe in community. there is nothing stronger than people getting together to change the world. That's why we’re so divided, if we were able to listen and understand each other, life would be more bearable.
