About Mia

Mia Seroc is a freelance choreographer, born in Reunion Island,France and established in NYC since 2014.

After her training at Centre International de Dance Jazz- Rick Odums in Paris, Mia moved to NYC to study at the Martha Graham School. She started the professional training program and had the chance to perform with Graham II in 2016 alongside with the Martha Graham Company for their 90th anniversary celebration at the New York City Center. After that, Mia received a full scholarship -“the New York Community Trust’s Edward and Sally Van Lier Arts Fellowship »- to attend the Accelerated program with a special focus on Composition. Seroc was selected on the basis of her artistic achievements during the previous program as well as her tremendous potential as a developing choreographer. With the help of the head of school Jennifer Patten who believed in Mia’s potential and passion for choreography,  Mia took this wonderful opportunity to start shaping  her choreographic style.

This explosive year also allowed Mia to be an assistant rehearsal director for the Teens program of the Graham school for the piece “Panorama” that got staged at the New York City Center.

“I believe Emotions are there to guide us, to help us understand life better. It will never be a weakness”

Work Inspirations

Her style is a subtle balance between contemporary and Hip Hop Flow mixed with influences of Reunion Island and African rhythms.

This strong mix is visceral and undoubtedly true to life experiences.

as a choreographer, Mia is true to life and is fond of showing the authentic truth that lays in people, the rawness of the story that is there and need to get out. She believes Art is there to heal people. She is always looking to uplift her audience, inspire people that watch her Art to bring that sense of community that she is proud of. Mia wants to bring people together.

Because of her background Mia have this ability to adapt and to transform what she sees in her own unique way. She also think that Evolution is key to growth and development of true self.

Artistic Director

A choreographer for sure, but also an Artistic Director! Mia Seroc knows when a vision can come to life and knows how to make it come to life. From the costumes through the lights, the designs, the filming vision, the editing process and of course the choreography, Mia got skills in each one of those elements and therefore directed already several dance projects. Mia can’t wait to produce more and more shows and is excited to launch her own company,  Mia Seroc Dance Ensemble.

« Once I have a vision, I need to make it happen, I need to think about every tiny detail to bring it to life. Everything is important and knowing how to piece all the aspects of the project together is essential. That’s what I love to do» Mia Seroc
